Welcome to Untangling the Mind Counselling

My name is Amanda (she/her). I support adults, young adults, and adolescents through their journey and path to healing. Through my caring and gentle approach to therapy, I aim to provide a space free of judgement where clients feel safe and comfortable from the first session.
I acknowledge the path to healing can be daunting and overwhelming, I commend your strength in taking the first step (or maybe second or third) in reaching out to book a session. The journey of healing and self-discovery is different for everyone, and we will work collaboratively to overcome life’s challenges and complexities so you can heal and grow.
My approach is person-centred; however, I provide a multi-disciplined approach to therapeutic engagement. You are the expert of your life, and I will meet you where you are on your journey. I pride myself on being understanding, warm, and a good listener. I strongly believe in the significance of the therapeutic relationship, I am deeply interested and genuinely curious about you as an individual. There is no one-size-fits-all to treatment. Our therapeutic relationship is built on trust, understanding, authenticity, respect, and genuineness.
Mental health is complex; solely treating symptoms will not lead to lasting change. I work holistically, considering the whole person's multidimensional aspects of wellness, including physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual. My treatment plans are tailored to each individual and their unique set of circumstances. In our first session, we will explore your presenting concerns and questions surrounding your life, relationships, and experiences as a detailed history. This will provide appropriate information to identify your therapeutic goals and will guide treatment interventions.
As a counsellor, I help you to navigate life’s challenges to improve your overall well-being by holding a safe and secure space for your healing through collaboration, kindness, and authenticity. Together we can create you a life that brings you happiness, meaning, and purpose: Untangling the Mind.

Welcome
Hi, I am Amanda (she/her), shamelessly human first, therapist second. I like to bring both of our humanness to the therapy space, where you can colour outside the lines and express the messiness of being human with no judgement. I am down-to-earth, warm, and genuine. I aim to empower you to tell your story, as we explore and clarify how you show up in your everyday life. Collaboratively, we will deeply delve into the roots and patterns of habits, behaviours, and mechanisms to gain a deep understanding of ‘why you are who you are’ and ‘why you do the things you do’. As a therapist, I help you to deal with life challenges to improve your well-being. My goal is to help you create a life that brings you happiness, meaning, purpose, and satisfaction.

A little about me...
In my free time, you can guarantee to find me with a book in hand, spending time with my gorgeous dog, listening to vinyl or blissfully walking along the ocean side somewhere. I am a lover of sunrises or sunsets, coffee, a "foodie" if you will, and a free spirit mover and groover.
